Daylight Studies

Getting the DESIGN right

Refurbishment Scheme, Aylesbury:

Produced a daylight & sunlight study of an existing office building for a proposed refurbishment into residential units, to test whether the proposed apartments’ could achieve the daylight factors required by and achieve 25% of the probable sunlight hour recommended in BS6206 Part 2: Code of Practice for Daylighting.

This was done using the British Standard’s methodology & BRE’s BR209 Site Layout Planning for Daylight and Sunlight’s Waldram and sunlight probability diagrams.

Study indicated how some apartments in the internal courtyard of the building would not meet these requirements.
